Segreto Restaurant and Bar Dubai

Exhuding some stylish glamour, we stumbled upon this hidden gem situated in Souk Madinat , the italian restaurant Segreto settled amongst the pathways of the resort. Upon entry, dim lighting and comfortable and warm rustic interiors greeted us,making for quite a romantic set up.

The dry aged kettle lamb shank was a weave of tenderness with the meat being so moist, that the meat can easily fall from the bone, each bite being a taste of heaven on your palate, the reason being the lamb is slow cooked deliriously for over a period of 12 hours which explains how well the flavors have been infused in the meat.

The  savory baked halibut was another favorite of mine as the fish comes encased in aluminum foil, brimming with aromatic herbs amplifying the taste of this fish with the skin being nice and crisp and a delicious accompaniment of sardinian fergola making it a wholesome meal all in all.

Time to satiate my sweet cravings by ordering the vanilla pannacotta , easily one of my cult favourites, which was a scrumptious treat. presented beautifully in a white and dark chocolate sphere making it an aesthetic pleaser. The show does not end here, pour down a warm meld of bergamot and passionfruit sauce, only to unveil added and heavenly goodness.

I have had many a fruit salads and usually the presentation is the same so fruit salad presented in a gorgeous Macedonia jar was a pleasant surprise and definitely an artistic presentation. Open sesame and my eyes meet freshly cut fruits marinated in a concoction of sweet and tangy coulis and creamy white yoghurt foam.

With a vast menu and a restaurant that boasts a romantic ambience, Segreto makes a favorable impression and is the perfect spot to bring your loved ones to celebrate special occasions or a milestone in your life while devouring on some exceptional italian rustic dishes to please your palate.

Sumo Sushi & Bento dubai

Making sushi is definitely a fine art of craft of its kind and Sumo Sushi Bento sets quite the impression with their freshly hand carved sushi rolls as well as serving a culinary slice of bento boxes, sushi sandwiches and a lot more to please your palate when you are craving for some japanese.

The deep fried rock and roll shrimp for starters had our palates jamming with flavour with the shrimp having a nice golden brown crusty exterior and being fried delicately in tempura style, served on a healthy bed of lettuce, garnished with some spring onions and a dollop of spicy and creamy mayonnaise sauce for a spice kick.

Next up was the juicy wagyu beef steak filled with enoki and baby asparagus rolled artistically into a thin delicate layer of succulent and juicy Wagyu Steak strips and drizzled whole heartedly with Sumo Sushi’s special Wagyu Sauce. What i love about this dish is how this simplistic and rich sauce elevates the dish to a whole new level with a tinge of sweetness.

We rolled in happiness at the very next sight as the server bought us a beautiful boat shaped set up with rows of sushi rolls beautifully laid out – first up was the Yogan rolls made out of delicious Crabstick, creamy avocado, crispy tempura, cream cheese and unagi rolled together happily in unison and capped with thinly sliced tuna and a gobbet of spicy mayonnaise sauce, the fiery dragon rolls filled lavishly with fresh eel and crabstick wrapped together beautifully in thin layers of creamy and thinly sliced avocado bearing a strong resemblance to the scales of a dragon hence the name, with mayonnaise sauce drizzled unsparingly and the slim salmon cali rolls exuding vibrance not just in its presentation but also with its amalgamation of flavours, a meld of creamy avocado, crabstick, and fresh cucumber topped with hearty salmon cream cheese and tasty fish roe.

The japanese curry katsu was a first for me and the taste which came through had my palate intrigued with deep fried chicken cutlets, crispy to the touch with the rich and flavourful taste of the katsu resulting in a smooth gravy when matched with some sticky rice gave me a feeling of true contempt , the same going for my hubby who was smiling ear to ear at his very first bite.

We always save quite some room for dessert and our palates always answer back with a resounding yes Since we were in the mood for some tropical sweetness, we ordered the island dreams dessert maki – a concoction of sweetened black sushi rice filled laboriously with freshly cut fruits and berries covered with mango slices and served with a sweet dipping sauce giving our palates a sweet kick of kind.

Sumo Sushi Bento is definitely a haven for seafood lovers with a vast menu boasting quite some creative and handcrafted dishes with fresh ingredients, and friendly staff always around to give you a helping hand if you are pondering about what to order.

Great tandoori seafood fusion at Ghaya Dubai

Experience the fresh tastes of seafood market style at the restaurant’s seafood nights.Take a pick from the ocean favorites – whether you like the prawns tandoori style, grilled fresh seabass , pomfret, mussels , hammer and other favorites – pick your tray and you can select your fish from the freshest catch of the day. Savor and relish the delicious seafood selections and have it cooked your style from the various live stations on offer and have your seafood cooked Thailand style in a form of stir fry, Italian based with its various sauces, Indian style and Japanese, sushi style.

I cannot stop bragging about the tandoori flavored and succulent bites of prawns and pomfret. A little bit of spice makes all things nice and can go long way in the world of seafood. What made the experience truly enjoyable was the freshness of the seafood which allowed for the spices to be immersed hence giving a delicate flavor. Lets just say you will be going for seconds.

Just when we thought it could not get any better, a beautiful sushi boat was laid out in front of us, artistically decorated and laid out with various sushi rolls. Some of my favorites were the California maki rolls, glorious in their taste leaving our palates wanting for more.

The sea foods nights is highly recommended not just because of its price but also that you can indulge in live seafood preparations along with having a friendly banter with the staff who are extremely hospitable.

Bazxar DIFC

Dubai is all about indulging in new conceptualized restaurants offering various cuisines which gave us all the more reason to try out this new food market and wine bar concept like space. Visually mollifying to the eye with its graffiti laden walls, asian character food stations and also an all meat district serving a mouthful of juicy burgers and hot dogs for meat lovers along with a separate area for bakery and coffee and an indulgent wine bar, this concept restaurant is beautiful inside out with a lounge and dining area,. Light Wooden picnic tables are placed in the heart of the restaurant, which elicits a casual and down-home vibe to the restaurant.

Refreshing its way up to the table, was the watermelon salad , served with warm goat cheese, sprinkles of fragrant herbs and delicately topped with truffle honey. The dish just has the right amount of punch with the sweetness of the watermelon and the tangy creaminess of the goat cheese with the harmonious taste of the truffle honey.

The highlights of the ambient evening was the brazino, grilled to perfection, and presented in the form of a butterflied style sea bass stuffed with bountiful of puttanesca, a delicious meld of olives, tomato sauce, olive oil and the spiciness of chill flakes marrying each other’s unique flavors to complement the flavorful taste of the sea bass whose meat was so flaky and tender, it melts on the palate.

There is always room for dessert and this effervescent dessert intriguingly called as flowers and clouds is not to be missed. Be prepared to be blown away by this dessert which will make you want to capture every beautiful essence of it. The dessert which goes up in a whiff of dewy smoke and has several sweet treats puckered together on a rounded plate including a bunch of edible rose petals with a hint of lavender, creamy custard and the pleasantries of yummy peaches.

Savor in glory with the creamy cheesecake deliciously topped with cute little strawberry pearls though be mindful, this dessert might be a little too heavy on the palate as it was for me, made out of goat’s milk which was a first for me has a tinge of sweetness thanks to the strawberry pearls perched on the top.

If you are looking for a chic dining experience with a hint of casual, Bazxar definitely delivers with its casual vibes and melting pot of various cuisines served upfront and in an ambient atmosphere.

Cafe Vienna Dubai

The bustling city of Dubai is always home to new ideas, be it food trucks, organic produce markets, home produced goods and even casual dining and home grown concept restaurants offering comfort food, with a modernist twist and one such restaurant is the contemporary Cafe Vienna located in Business Bay.

Christmas is just around the corner and we indulged in some festive cheer and delicious food at this comfort food haven. The highpoint of our lovely Christmas menu tasting was the butternut squash soup, bright orange in color, creamy but at the same time light in nature with the perfect amount of sweetness and a tinge of nutty flavor, the perfect soup to keep company especially on a cold winter night.

The roasted beef was definitely a hearty and complete meal of its own, packed with flavor, thin slices of medium well beef smothered with beef gravy sauce with tidbits of mushrooms, is accompanied with sautéed and fragrant brussel sprouts and roasted baby potatoes perfect for a Christmas-y meal.

The cornfed chicken supreme breast was succulent and meaty grilled with a beautiful golden brown color, big on flavor, artistically cut into pieces and served with my favorite side dish, creamy mashed potatoes and roasted baby tomatoes, a meal that gives you that added depth of comfort.

The cafe also serves delectable thin slices of roasted lean turkey breast, nice and chewy and complemented with the peppery flavour of the fragrant romanesco sauce, crunchy string beans and roasted baby potatoes making it quite a satisfying choice for turkey lovers as it is not too heavy on the palate

The glorious chicken wiener schnitzel, a integral part of viennese cuisine, was beautifully fried and breaded with a tastefully golden brown coating, a crispy and crunchy note of breaded chicken breast accompanied with sautéed vegetables and tartar sauce, making it my utmost favorite of our christmas meal. If you prefer a healthier option, you can also customize this meal by choosing a alternative side such as quinoa.
The grilled yellow fin tuna steak is beautifully grilled and seasoned in its crispy skin and full of flavor, moist and served on a creamy bed of avocado saiad, fragrant garlicky and creamy mashed potato and tangy and spicy delicious tomato salsa being the perfect accompanies to this beautiful fish.

The salmon quiche is quite a treat with the pie crust being buttery and crispy .Though i felt the salmon was a little dry in nature, the salmon cubes were packed with flavour accented with cheese making it quite creamy.

Moving over to the cafe’s home made desserts, the decadent chocolate mud cake is a sure winner amongst other winning paleo desserts, deliciously moist and rich in flavor – filled with layers of home made gooey warm chocolate served with a dollop of creamy vanilla ice cream making these two a match made in heaven. The ferrero roche dome is a must try as its chocolate dome is covered with roasted hazel nut pieces and presented in such a beautiful manner and sure to satiate your sweet tooth. With a family friendly ambience set in contemporary interiors, Cafe Vienna offers artisan comfort food freshly made with elements of fine dining and also provides an option of fresh deli sandwiches for customers who are always on the go.

Gastronomy at SpiceKlub

Indian molecular gastronomy has taken the dining scene in Dubai a notch up and Spice Klub clearly indicates the same when it comes to making choicest of choices. This popular vegetarian joint all the way from Amchi Mumbai has opened its doors to amazing dishes and an even brighter and funky decor with ceilings laden with ornate kites, a bright and colorful rangoli wall design with artistic cushions at every nook, features such as swings and bicycles leaving you to take a trip down memory lane as a child.

Lassi, which i usually drink in a glass and a must have in Punjabi delicacies can be consumed in shots and either sweet or salty, yes you heard me right and they come not in just one flavor, from rasmalai to rose syrup flavor, one scoop in, and you will want all these spherical goodness straight to your palate.

If you are a chaat lover like me, you will have your palate excited for the next round, papdi chaat, crisp fried puri is paired with spheres of yoghurt and green coriander chutney foam – one bite of this chaat, and you will be instantaneously hooked as the sphere bursts delicately in your mouth with the added flavor of the chutney leaving you to reminisce fond memories. of college times as the flavor holds crunch, tanginess and that bit of sweetness.

The kesari paneer tikka , chunks of cottage cheese, marinated in a meld of spices and yoghurt, was brought to our table next as a starter, and was so meltingly soft and full of flavor, making it easily one of my favorites, as i love paneer, in any form , be it gravy, fried or grilled.

Who said you can only have fondue with cheese, Spice Klub takes it a step further by presenting pay bhaji fondue as chopped pieces of pav are gathered around a bowl of piping hot , delicious creamy vegetable in a gravy form leaving you to smile ear to ear.Lets just say, we had to ask for extra pieces of bread as we relished some of the last pieces dipped in gravy goodness.

You can never finish a round of chaat without the ever famous pani puri, but this time in a construct your own pani puri, taking me back to chemistry class, as the spiced water is placed in test tubes and syringes are provided containing sweet tamarind leaving you to carry out the taste test. Though i did thoroughly enjoy the experiment, i found it a little bit on the complicated side, to enjoy this easy dish.

For mains, The dal makhani , dal cooked in a creamy and buttery base and paneer makhani, cubes of cottage cheese are cooked in a tomato gravy, were both delicious in their righteous places as they were robust in flavor , though slightly heavy on the palate as they are rich in nature and would recommend to order either one to have a taste of a different gravy base.

If you have a green thumb, then this dessert will plant a smile on your face and a match made for me, as i love chocolate in any form 🙂 A clever take on dessert , the belgian chocolate flowerpot is such a pretty sight, as its core is made out of one of my favorite desserts, creamy rasmalai and saffron mousse decorated with mint leaves, placed on a bed of decadent chocolate soil.
