Bvlgari Afternoon Tea at Palace Downtown – A fashionable affair

The Bvlgari afternoon tea is here to delight not just your senses but also your palate. The fragrances are Inspired by Bvlgari’s Eaux parfumee collection of various notes of tea, each fragrance having its own sense of individuality.

As we made our way to the lush gardens of the Palace downtown, what welcomed us was truly a sight to behold as well as heavenly music to our ears sets the scene, compliments of the harp being played by the beautiful harpist as she works wonders with her fingers. Aside from having mesmerizing views of the Burj Khalifa in juxtaposition, beautiful tea tables along with tiffany chairs lined the manicured garden and decorative bird cages hung loosely from the tree, making for a perfect intimate setting.

We sat down to be welcomed with a warm smile by the staff and decided to opt for the premium Laurent Perrier bubbly package but you can also choose the fragrant TWG tea package to your liking.

As we admired the splendid views, our three tier curate stand arrived, filled with culinary delights. The tier one contained mini finger sandwiches, one of my favorites being the avocado creamy tuna roll, which literally melts in your mouth and matches in unison with the Bulgaria Bleu fragrance as it contains embellished flavors of shiso and violet. Tier two boasted sweet treats and it was truly hard to pick a favorite considering the sweet tooth i have, The vert lemon bergamot meringue tart was a zesty palate pleaser and a perfect accompaniment for a lovely afternoon. Tier three contained varieties of scones and petit fours – the green tea scones were absolutely light and had hints of green tea flavor to match with the vert fragrance of Bvlgari , containing subtle notes of bergamot and green tea giving you a feeling of relaxation. The plus point to this luxurious afternoon tea is you can have your tier stand replenished with all these yummy and decadent treats. For final touches, we were presented with fruit skewers to be dipped in sinful chocolate fondue.

We decided to indulge in the finer flavors of tea, and my cult favorite was the pink flamingo tea, a graceful blend of green tea with crimson, hibiscus blossoms that will uplift your mood in seconds with its ever sweet smell as the tea is perfectly paired with the fragrances as well as the other exotic tea blends.

The Bvlgari afternoon tea only lasts for the month of March and takes place from 1 to 4 pm on every wednesday, friday and saturday of the month and is definite must visit as it makes for a cozy atmosphere and sweeping views of the Burj Khalifa while you and your loved ones tuck into some sweetness and fancy treats. This theme runs till march 31st, 2017.

A stylish sports extravaganza at Nezesaussi Dubai Marina

A stylish downtown sports bar with large tv screens placed all around the area, Nezesaussi aims to please with its delicious and i must mention huge portions of dishes. If you are not much into watching matches, not to worry, this sports bar is also home to two pool tables, a foosball table in a designated area which makes for a perfect hangout with friends and family. The corner seats also have a tv screen, and the best part is you get to choose what you would like to watch.

For starters, my favorites were the delicious pulled beef sliders, the beef being so tender and soft and at the same time packed with a whole lot of flavor – i usually like my beef patties more on the thin side, so i was happy to see that the patties were nice and thin and placed in soft buttery buns and accompanied with some crispy fries on the side.

For the mains, the grilled tenderloin also termed a fillet mignon was a definite eye pleaser. The steak was juicy and succulent and packed with flavor, thanks to the pesto seasoning and some flavorful gravy. You can choose the steak as per your preference of weight and is a definite must have from the menu.

The pork ribs were ah- mazing and probably one of the best i have had in town, apart from being huge in size, the meat slides off so easily from the bone and is smothered with Jack Daniels barbecue sauce with extra on the side. What i loved was the smokey flavor with a glaze that will please your palate and be a feast for your eyes.

The sticky toffee nut pudding is sure to be a definite crowd pleaser as it looks and tastes so delectable and indulgent. A definite best version of this classic british dessert that i have tried. The dessert is great for sharing as it does get a little rich after few spoons but hey i am not complaining. With an added dollop of ice cream, it complements the pudding in a smooth and creamy manner.

A falafel lunch at Operaton Falafel Boxpark

Falafel holds so many fond memories for me, first because it used to be our evening snack after school, as we used to shell out two dirhams from our pocket money to munch into the live falafels fried in deep hot oil in front of us as we licked our lips awaiting to devour these crunchy bites.

At Operation Falafel, the falafels come in a lot more fancier, in steel strainers, quite crunchy to the bite and with a well fried exterior and tender and smooth filling inside with a right amount of herby flavors, a blend of onions, a whole lot of pine seeds and a slight peppery taste. What i liked about the falafels were that they were light and not too heavy on the stuffing and they go extremely well with the Arabian sauce shatta, perfectly spiced with the right amount of zing from the jalapeños.

Operation falafel mind you is not just about falafels, they also have some great dishes on the menu like the sujuk sausages, which was a personal favorite for me as i love a hint of spice in all things nice. The sausages were nicely cooked and slightly tender to the touch but would recommend a sauce to go with it if you like a more saucy dip to accompany it. The alayat banadoura is a tomato based sauce that works like a charm for the sausages, perfect to dip into for added flavor.

The quinoa tabouleh is quite a light and refreshing change with a classic twist of quinoa added which is the perfect and healthier substitute for rice and also a great option for vegetarians with herbs that act as a flavor component to the dish.

For nutella fans like me, there is the manakeesh that definitely will stave off your chocolate cravings with a lavish spread of nuttella all over and a plentiful amount of pistachios and sliced bananas giving that delicious impact of flavor.

Operation falafel definitely acts as home sweet home to delicious street food giving you that right amount of comfort to your palate.

Bateel’s spring menu

When i hear the word bateel, the first word that pops to my mind is dates and all kinds of them, besotted with nuts and even chocolate enriched so knowing that they have a cafe that also offers a world of breakfast, lunch and dinner to add to its hat remaining true to its rich Arabian heritage in a relaxing and warm ambience.

For starters, we had the burrata pesto which makes for a very elegant appetizer and of course to satisfy my italian craving. Creamy burrata cheese with farro grains, artichoke, kale, jir air and the flavors of avocado meet each other in unison showered with a coriander pesto dressing which i thoroughly enjoyed with a chilled glass of sparkling date wine by my side. The burrata was so creamy and went seamlessly with the well flavored pesto.

My eyes loomed over the indulgent lamb confit as the main course which i could not help choose. The result- meltingly soft and braised lamb shoulder served with an amalgamation of umbrian farro grains for that arabic touch, chickpeas, chewy greek mushrooms and the sweetness of caramelized onions making for a fulfilling and wholesome meal.

Seafood always gets the best of me hence, we ordered the chilean sea bass fillet ,the flavor which was thoroughly pleasant as the fish had a nice and firm texture, and served on a bed of aubergine coulis with sautéed celeriac, heirloom carrots, parsnips, artichoke and the crunch of chestnuts.

Desserts were waiting for me and boy, was i spoilt for choice with the varieties available. The pear and chocolate cake was just what i dreamed it to be. A vision of a vanilla almond sponge topped with sweet pear compote, the sinfulness of rich chocolate mousse and chocolate cremeux. The first bite, and i could not resist having the second as the chocolate and pear so wonderfully work with each other in unison.

My soft corner for the desserts happens to be a very large corner as for seconds, we ordered the peanut delight which was so delightful in nature, as a light fluffy sponge meets our eyes with delectable layers of peanut streusel, peanut mousse and dulcey cream- Peanut lovers, you know what to choose, Though the peanut flavor was a little too rich for me, it does make for a heavenly dessert.

Cheesecake- i love everything about it, the creaminess, the biscuit crust and it was no surprise well to myself that i ordered the raspberry rose lychee cheesecake which comes with a crispy almond biscuit and vanilla sponge layered base topped with wait for it, raspberry and lychee jam- how to well describe this darling?Creamy, decadent and downright delicious! The strawberry tart is also a great choice to have if you are an avid fan of strawberries dolloped with pistachio cream, berry points for the presentation being on point.

You just cannot not have the coffees on offer at Bateel, so just to get a taste of it, i ordered and tried the layered signature coffee and to tag along with it are some of Bateel’s signature dates that are so soft, they melt in your mouth, a puff of richness. The latte has a surprise note in it, natural date syrup which might be a little overwhelming for some but nonetheless quite enriching to end your meal.

Vanilla Salee – Movenpick JBR

My favorite go to ice cream? Vanilla with a hint of hot chocolate fudge so i was squealing with excitement when i heard that the soul restaurant at Movenpick restaurant, Jumeirah beach road, had a vanilla inspired menu which i knew i had to give a go at to tantalize my taste buds. Known as the Vanilla Salee, the menu had a little bit of savoriness and sweetness for a much enjoyable experience.

For the entrees, we indulged into finely cut tuna and salmon sashimi and grilled soft scallops accompanied with wakame , a drizzle of citrus vanilla vinaigrette and wasabi soya sauce giving this dish the right amount of magic it needs with a right amount of sweetness lent and a zesty flavor.

The goats cheese and fig salad definitely had a vibrant character of its own in terms of the taste as well as the exotic presentation. The dish is enriched with cubes of St Maure goat’s cheese, figs, nuts and orange vanilla dressing which acted as a perfect component for the cheese, figs and nuts.

The Nile perch definitely had to be a favorite as the fish was nicely grilled along with vanilla, white chicory, being quite a unique item,a healthy choice of black salsify mash and red grape essence. What i liked about this dish is how the chicory imparts flavor to the fish, making it nice and moist.

My favorite part was the chocolate fondant which can be easily shared by two as the quantity is huge but nevertheless, one of my favorite dishes, as the creamy vanilla and chocolate fondant make for a match made in heaven. The chocolate is not too strong and infuses a subtle flavor to the ice-cream.
