Seafood Nights at Marasea

Marasea, the name itself gives way to knowing what its cuisine is all about, seafood but leaving you to choose what style you would like to have it cooked in. Featuring maritime influences and nautical accents showcased in the interiors , Marasea offers a wide variety of seafood under one roof along with a fresh water tank featuring live lobsters hailing from Canada and New Zealand.

Browsing quickly through the menu, we opted for the tom yam koong soup, though a little too diluted in taste for me, the thai flavors of lemon grass, chill, kaffir leaves and garlic were fairly predominant retaining the spice factor although with a meagre amount of coconut milk.

The thai prawn cakes paired with thai chill sauce made for a perfect combination, the cakes were juicy and chewy in texture at the same time being quite flavorsome with the combination of sweet and sour for my tastebuds.

Maki Rolls were next up on the order and we went with the californian rolls, as they are one of my favorites. Creamy avocado with savory crab meat, had me close to ordering a second just for me and myself. The spicy mayonnaise sauce imparted the right flavor to these rolls, rolled in just the right amount of crispy tempura flakes.

You can opt for a three course menu for a steal of a price at just Aed 128 that consists of soup of the day along with your choice of main course, be it mussels, fish, lobster or crabs along with a rice or noodle dish and the dessert of the day.

Since we wanted to try out different styles of cooking, we opted for the grilled sea bream with a simple olive and lemon sauce that held the simplicity of this dish – the meat is nice and firm and easily falls apart with the touch of the fork.

The sea bass in thai red curry was outstanding with the sauce being the right amount of thick and the fish beautifully cooked along with the sauce, holding the perfect balance between sweet and spice imparted from the coconut milk and thai red chili.

The grilled jumbo prawns had a nice smoky flavor to them, succulent and juicy and full of flavor. The shell itself imparts a whole lot of flavor with the prawn retaining its flavor inside.

The perfect accompaniment to the boiled lobster is that of buttery lemon and garlic sauce. We usually opt for the lobster grilled but the chef recommended we try out the steamed option which is only for a few minutes to get the right texture as the lobster meat tends to be more juicy and flavorful and usually loses its taste when grilled.

With a variety of desserts on display in a tray, we had a tough choice choosing between the chocolate mousse pastry, the cheese cake and the date cake.To be fair to all, we had a bite of each and the mango cheese cake was our favorite ticking all the right flavors and texture for us from being creamy, not too much on the sweet side and the perfect flavor of mango punched in.

Scrumptious offerings at all day dining Afya Traders Hotel

I’m definitely not so keen at all day dining restaurants simply because they cater to the masses with their buffets. There are a few exceptional restaurants which also serve great ala carte options such as this urban chic restaurant Afya in tradershotelad .

Wasn’t expecting much but each of the dishes that I ordered tasted so delicious. The kingprawns and lambracks were flawless with the finest ingredients. What caught my attention was then braised hamour fish which came in a tabouleh and tomato broth over a bed of couscous. Yum indeed.

As posh as it gets! This signature burger made from 100% pure wagyu beef promises good levels of juiciness in every bite. The charcoal bun really adds up to making it so instagram worthy. You’ve to do a little bit of squeezing to make it into your mouth though 😂 .

The burger also boasts beef bacon with peri peri mayo giving it the right amount of spicy!

Healthy choices at Zaatar w Zeit

My go-to place for fresh salads and a comfort wrap or sandwich? Zaatar Zeit it is, as they take pride in their menu, ranging from low cal wraps , a slice of manakeesh to those craving for some street food with some new choices on the menu, shawarmas or shish tawook. What makes me fall more in love with them is the fact that they serve breakfast , and not just anyhow but in a pan and plus points as they are served all day, it makes me feel right at my home. You can choose having your eggs cooked your style (mine is well fried) which comes with a bowl of salad and fresh bread(you can now opt for oat bread) on the side. If you are not an egg fan like me, not to worry, they also have halloumi and labneh on their menu.

Browsing through their menu, we took a good amount of time trying to put our finger on what wraps to choose and we settled for the beef steak wrap which contained juicy beef strips complemented with bell peppers, rocket leaves, a sprinkle of caramelized onions topped with barbecue sauce to punch in the flavor and and the famous chicken wrap, roasted chicken pieces meet a dash of melted cheese and lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and aioli sauce acts as the perfect complement to the chicken with its creaminess.

For the salads we opted for the chicken kale salad, which happens to be one of my favorites , i love how the grilled strips of chicken lend flavor to the kale leaves which is also combined with flax seeds, dried apricot and thymes making for a perfect healthy choice. The zooza salad is the perfect wholesome salad as it contains quite the mix from baked sliced potatoes, boiled eggs, tomatoes, some corn , tuna and lettuce, dressed in mustard vinegar though i would suggest to leave quite some space in your tummy for this number. The potato chicken platter although delicious in taste was a little disappointing as there were more sliced potatoes than pieces of chicken, which did not work in the favor of the dish but nevertheless had a nice tangy flavor.

For desserts, we tried out the tiramisu and the blueberry cheesecake, though i found the tiramisu to be not as creamy i would have liked it to be, it did have a nice cocoa flavor. In terms of flavor, the cheesecake takes a higher precedence and also because i do like my cheesecakes. It was a lot more creamier but at the same time light on the palette.

If you are looking for comfort food or in a rush for a meeting and looking for a quick bite, Zaatar Zeit with its many branches across the city serves you right and well.

Authentic Pakistani at Barbeque Delights

If you are a meat lover like me, then Barbecue delights should be your next stop. Featuring afghani cuisine and Middle eastern dishes, the restaurant takes pride in their grilled meat dishes, steaks that will leave you wanting for more to delicious and juicy meat skewers and sweets that will satisfy your taste buds,

Chicken wings were up for starters- the wings dunked in crispy breaded batter served yields a nice and crispy golden skin with spicy sauce on the side. Nothing gives me immense joy than fried food especially when it includes chicken with the bone. I loved the marinade used for the wings which had a hint of spice and had the ultimate flavor i was in dire need of.

The lamb mantu similar to that of momos or dumplings had a nice soft texture to them, thanks to its outer exterior and a luscious amount of meat filling inside , the meat filling is mixed with a blend of spices and minced onions and steamed. The meat filling is nice and juicy and the key factor in this dish and highly recommended.

I have had my fair share of chicken boti, so when i saw the option of chicken achari boti i quickly jumped at ordering it and i was not disappointed, the succulent pieces of chicken pieces were spruced with flavor which raised from the delicious flavors of raw mango and pickled masala.Although i would prefer to have more of the spice factor in this dish, the tikka did have a lot of flavor.

The reshmi kebabs were every bit of soft and succulent.the kebabs of minced chicken are married with a meld of spices and a mixture of green chillies, coriander and onions. The tamarind sauce lent a sweet and tangy flavor to these silky textured kebabs and were a delight to tuck into.

If lamb chops could be so good, they were the biggest hit of our dinner, the secret being that the meat is marinaded overnight to allow the simple spice of black pepper and a dash of olive oil to do their own bit of magic. The meat was everything i expected to be, soft , filled with flavor and easy to tear apart.

I love prawns so it was an obvious choice to order, but these prawns had a different marinade of its own. Marinated in a meld of mustard, black pepper and lemon juice, i loved how this simple marinade imparted flavor to the jumbo prawns. The dish is served with fries and mustard sauce if you are looking for a little bit more of tang.

Umali and bread pudding are always my top favorites when it comes to dessert, hence i ordered the pakistani version being shahi tukray which involves slices of bread soaked in a delicious and aromatic blend of milk, cardamom and a garnish of pistachio nuts. I loved the rich texture of this dessert though i would recommend to leave quite a lot of space for this royal treat.
