Get hooked not just to the food served at Ibn Bahr but also the ambience that features a toppled boat as one of the many characteristics that this restaurant boasts, beautiful bespoke lighting bulbs that light up this lovely restaurant and maritime accents that have a certain rustic feel while exuding a whole lot of warmth with a color palette and a weathered finish of blue, white and red with an instagrammable wall of art perfect to take some great shots.
The samke harra whose literal meaning is spicy fish, is a dish that contains fish ratatouille cooked in a combination of fresh plump red tomatoes, slices of green and red pepper, fried golden onions and dashes of coriander. What i like about this dish is that its wholesome and flavorful , with shreds of fish and a pack of vegetables on the side.
The grilled squid provencal was one of my favorite starters, juicy, tangy and quite summery in flavor with predominant flavors of the region of Provence, though i usually opt for fried squid, i took the plunge to try out this dish and i loved how chewy the squid was that complemented beautifully with the herb, olive oil and lemon dressing.
The jumbo prawns were plump and had a nice chargrilled flavor to them leaving them jam-packed with a beautiful seasoning of cashew nut as they were delicious and imparted a smoky flavor. The cashew nut gives the prawns a sweet and nutty taste and works well in favor of the prawns.
Tandoori and me go well hand in hand, so i had to try out the whole lobster tandoori style, the delicate and sweet flavor of lobster was grilled and met with a lovely marinade of spices including Indian herbs and spices, leaving you to relish every bite.
Ever tried sea bream dunked in a splash of teriyaki sauce? Then you are clearly missing out, i usually associate teriyaki sauce with meaty steaks but i would highly recommend trying out this pairing. The sweet sauce delivered from the teriyaki sauce creates a delicious flavor imparted to the sea bream.
The chargrilled butterfly fish though a little dry in nature was quite delicious grilled in an amalgamation of Ibn Al Bahr spices and a dash of sea salt. The fish meat is soft in texture and flaky in nature though i recommend to eat while hot.
A scoop of delicious Arabic ice cream with a splash of rose water, makes each bite as mind blowing as it gets. The flavor, light and intense in nature will excite your taste buds with its pinch of sweet and gummy texture garnished with pistachios.
Had a #seafood feast the other day at @ibnalbahr which was nothing short of #spectacular. It goes well with their statement “owned by fishermen” since the manager showed us their choicest fish and preparation styles. . . Never had fish in #teriyaki sauce before but this was off the hook. The fish tasted so fresh (steamed) and I devoured every bite. Downside is that it takes 20-30mins for cooking.
