Embark on a journey of pure relaxation, just as i did when i checked into the modern yet contemporary Sheraton Grand Dubai, a part of Starwood hotels and resorts,for the weekend which is just what i was in dire need of to get myself away from those stressful workdays for that much needed TLC.
As we stepped into the lobby, we were taken aback by the grandeur space exuding its own magic from the tasteful spherical chandeliers that hung high to the hand crafted wooden intricate artwork showcased in various areas of the lobby all set in an ambient lighting making you feel at ease.
Check in was a breeze as we made our way through the 31st floor, the panoramic VIP club lounge level , to have everything been taken care of by the hospitable staff with just a tap of few keys, had our room arranged for us notably.
As we entered our Grand Deluxe suite, i could not help but admire the vast space of the suite, the rich fabrics with light seeping through and subdued tones with impressive views of the famous Sheikh Zayed Road making for quite a welcoming atmosphere. As i opened the door to the bedroom, i could not wait to slip on my super soft slippers and stretch out lazily on the large comfortable bed, with its plush pillows, a comfortable mattress which promises blood circulation and uber soft duvets , all being an indulgent part of the luxurious signature sleep experience promising sweet dreams.
After a quick tour of the room, we had built quite an appetite and our tummies led us to the extravagant Feast restaurant, only to be pleased by the lively set up and the bustling crowd that met our eyes. I am not kidding but it took us a good half an hour just to walk around all the cuisines stationed, from the British counter to the Asian counter, A seafood live station to the warmth of the bread counter and fresh salads on array and not to forget an exclusive cheese and wine selection, it did not stop at that, to quench your thirst, there is also a gin and tonic counter and a little something to satisfy your sugar rush, need i say more?
The chefs continued to surprise us at the table by getting their specials laid out in front of us from each counter, for starters, a plate of fresh oysters welcomed us the old fashioned way on a bed of ice, with all things nice, mini tobacco bottles to add a pop of color and lime juice. The Lamb 26, which offers 3 different cuts of John Stone grass fed Lamb along with a beautiful tray of 26 garnishes, each one holding a different aspect of taste. Sushis and dim sums also lined our table , steaming hot and ready to be devoured. One of my favorites dishes though has to be the tamarind chicken, succulent pieces of tamarind flavored chicken cut in cubes was the epitome of complete deliciousness as well as the beef rendang, a simple dish that denotes a combination of stewed beef cooked in a coconut gravy combined with the aroma of lemongrass, galangal and chillies. The meat was like biting in a piece of homely goodness.
After a quick siesta in the comforts of our suite, we decided to pamper ourselves and headed to the glorious Shine spa for a much needed hot stone massage and what can be a more perfect alternative than booking the couple’s signature treatment to enjoy sweet moments together. As we entered the couple room, the calming ambience was evident with lit candles and soothing music to the ears. My therapist started the treatment by washing my feet and leading me to the massage bed where she gently and in rhythm massaged and kneaded those stubborn knots in my aching body and gently placed hot stones all over my body giving me immense relief, as i requested her to give more attention to my lower back, 90 minutes later, we felt so revitalized, that it showed on our faces.There is an extremely inviting jacuzzi which can also be used in the couples room if you would like to unwind a little more.
I love my breakfast with a view and thats exactly i got as we decided to take a quick bite at the breakfast buffet on the club lounge floor, the panoramic view only makes you learn to appreciate the sheer beauty of Dubai with the natural sunlight seeping through and with that i come to a pit stop about my staycation at Sheraton Grand, a warm and hospitable hotel , easily accessible and definitely hitting the right notes for me.
